This evaluation platform presents current and up to date
information from the Canberra Choral Society's Music Lending Scheme. It is
offered in parallel with the operational service, hosted at
ChoirMusicHire.Info. The evaluation platform allows name and password
access to information about scores available for hire from subscribing
societies while the operational service requires a certificate issued by the
service provider to be installed in the user's browser.
This platform represents the first step towards an improved service in which the
strength of the test of authority to access is better matched to the purpose of
the access. The presently operational service provides access for two
distinct purposes...
1. To find sources of the scores required by a choir for a performance.
2. To add to or to change the content of the database.
Both purposes are covered by the one authentication method, namely, the
presentation of an identifying certificate to the Web server hosting the site.
It is intended that the currently operational service should, in due course, be
replaced by a service that provides easy read-only access from virtually any
platform to basic information about the availability of scores while providing
adequately secured and controlled methods for adding to and for changing a range
of content held in the database. The evaluation platform is the
'pre-release' edition of easy read-only access to content.
Access to content is by way of the name of a composer, writer, librettist,
lyricist, arranger or editor associated with a work or a score. Broader
access, such as by title or by full text search will be provided in subsequent
editions. Errors will, at times, occur during use of the evaluation
platform. These errors will be captured by a special page that advises the
user that an error has occurred and asks that a brief report be emailed to an
address provided on the page. Please email brief reports as requested.
All users of this site, whether they be subscribers to the Music Lending Scheme
or not, should allow their browsers to accept cookies from
eval.choirmusichire.info. The navigation of this site is supported by
programming that requires certain information to be held during the course of
the visit, that is to say, from the opening of the first page until the last
page opened expires. While 'cookieless' access to the site is nominally
provided for, investigations have revealed that not all browsers will support
such access.
